Targacept and AstraZeneca have initiated a phase II trial of their Neuronal Nicotinic agonist AZD3480 (TC-1734) in adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

NeurogesX have published Phase 3 data of its lead capsaicin product NGX-4010 in Neurology. The trial, in patients with HIV-associated distal sensory polyneuropathy (HIV-DSP) showed the drug to statistically reduce pain over a 12-week period.

OSI have presented preclinical data on its dual 5-HT1A agonist/Monoamine reuptake inhibitor PSN602 which is under development for the treatment of obesity. It was found to cause equivalent weight loss in rats to Sibutramine

OSI Pharmaceuticals provided preclinical data on its GPR119 agonists PSN821 at the ADA meeting. Data showed that PSN821 has the potential to both substantially lower glucose and cause weight loss in patients with type 2 diabetes

Data presented at the ADA meeting show that Roche and Ipsen’s GLP-1 analog taspoglutide demonstrates efficacy and is well tolerated in patients with type 2 diabetes. The drug is now moving in to Phase III trials.
