Data from a Phase IIb clinical trial of AZD3480 in Alzheimer’s Disease were found to be inconclusive. Primary outcome measures were not statistically significant for either donepezil or AZD3480, however improvements were shown on secondary outcome measures ADCS-CGIC and MMSE.

Palatin and AstraZeneca have announced an amendment to their melanocortin receptor research collaboration initiated in January 2007. Under the new terms Palatin will license additional compounds and associated intellectual property to AstraZeneca, receiving development and regulatory milestone payments.

AstraZeneca have filed supplemental New Drug Application to the FDA for approval of Symbicort (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dihydrate) Inhalation Aerosol in paediatric patients ages 6 to 11 years old.

The FDA has approved Seroquel (quetiapine fumarate) for the maintenance treatment of patients with bipolar I disorder. Seroquel is already approved by the FDA for the treatment of schizophrenia

AstraZeneca have submitted a supplemental NDA for Seroquel XR for the Treatment of Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). The drug is already launched for Bipolar disorder and Schizophrenia.

AstraZeneca have submitted a supplementary NDA for Symbicort (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dihydrate) for the treatment of patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Symbicort is already approved for the long-term maintenance treatment of asthma.
